Custom made attire by a master tailor can set a man or woman apart from their contemporaries. Everyone has experienced the frustration of shopping for that image in our head and coming home empty handed. Retaining the integrity of a design while making adjustments to suit a client’s figure and personal preferences is a balancing act. Our master tailor will go to great lengths to do both. Most people have fit and figure issues that are answered by custom garment design and construction, whether it’s a special occasion dress or business attire. The following is standard custom made procedure at Tailor Shop by Larissa:
Process of Making a Custom Made Outfit
- Consultation
- Bring photos that inspire you from magazines or the internet or items from your wardrobe that you want to replicate
- Go over your idea and vision
- We recommend designs and solutions
- Meeting/Presentation
- We present fabric, materials and designs
- Get approval from you to move forward
- First Fitting
- To ensure your custom outfit is the right size, color and design
- Designer/seamstress starts pinning and tucking the fabric and sculpting it to your body
- Second Fitting
- All your concerns from the first fitting have been addressed and fixed
- You should have a better idea of how the gown will fit
- Third Fitting
- Bring along your foundation garments, shoes, jewelry and any accessories you plan to wear with your custom made outfit
- There is no obvious wrinkling, bunching or pulling of material
- Final Fitting
- Normally 1 week before your event to ensure that the custom made outfit still fits you like a glove. Gaining or losing weight before the event is a very common situation
- Ask your friends or family to come along so they can learn about your custom made outfit. Ask the designer/seamstress to teach them how to put on the outfit. Does it have complicated straps or buttons? Make sure they learn how to work them before the event.
